6 REASONS TO LOVE GŴYL FACH Y FRO 2017!

Gŵyl Fach y Fro (Little Festival of the Vale) will return once again this year to Barry Island – on Saturday June 17th. This annual Welsh festival was established by Menter Bro Morgannwg in 2015, to celebrate and raise the profile of the Welsh language in the Vale.

If you haven’t been to Gŵyl Fach y Fro before, here are six good reasons why you should go this year.

1. The location

Gŵyl Fach y Fro is held on the sea front at Barry Island – the ideal place for a family friendly festival! It runs from 11.30am to 7pm and is easy to get to by train and bus.

2. Great Music

There’s something to suit all music tastes at Gŵyl Fach y Fro 2017 – from pop to jazz. The line-up includes Welsh language music legend Bryn Fôn a’r Band, indie rock group Candelas and electro pop three-piece HMS Morris.

3. Stalls, activities and workshops

There’s plenty to do at the event - there will be stalls selling local Welsh produce and gifts, a play area for kids, bubble bikes, circus skills, a welly walk on the beach and lots of fun workshops.

4. Delicious food and drink

The event will include a bar run by local brewery Tomos & Lilford, and food will be served by Grazing Shed, Ffwrnes Pizza and Bay 5.

5. It’s a great introduction to Welsh language and culture

Everyone is welcome at Gŵyl Fach y Fro  – whether they are Welsh speakers, Welsh learners, or those who wish to experience the Welsh language and its culture for the first time. It’s also a great way to find out more about learning Welsh, with Welsh for Adults and Welsh for Kids giving out advice on the day.

6. It’s FREE

Entry to the event is completely free!

See you there!
